COLD SIGNAL — Our First AI Film: Everything We Know So Far
October 23, 2026 · 5 min read · by Zentara
Every film studio starts with a first film. Ours is called COLD SIGNAL — and it begins with a radio that should have been silent for almost forty years.
The story: a call that waited 39 years
At a remote relay station in the Arctic, the night shift is the loneliest job on Earth: frozen antennas, endless static, and supply planes that only come when the weather allows. Then, one night, the static clears. A distress call comes through — clear, desperate, and live. The problem? It is a call that was first broadcast in 1987, from a Soviet station that no longer exists.
And the voice on the radio knows things it should not know. Worse: whatever is out in the cold has been listening to the crew for a long time. It has learned their voices. Every call for help could be real — or it could be the thing outside, practising.
Subscribe — and whatever you hear on the radio… don't answer.
Why we chose this as our first film
COLD SIGNAL was written to use the strengths of AI filmmaking instead of fighting them. A small cast. One unforgettable location. A threat you mostly hear rather than see. Sound, static and silence do the heavy lifting — which means the film can look and feel like a production that would normally cost a fortune in Arctic location shooting, while being generated shot by shot with AI tools.
It is also an original story, written for this channel. That matters to us: Zentara makes original films, not recaps, not summaries, and not fan versions of other people's movies.
The format
- Runtime: 20–25 minutes — a complete story, not a clip
- Genre: action / horror / thriller
- Language: English, made for a global audience
- Release: free premiere on the Zentara YouTube channel, trailer first
- Picture: 4K presentation, with subtitles
How COLD SIGNAL is being made
The film follows the same workflow we explain in detail on this blog: a human-written script is broken into scenes and shots; character and location references are locked so faces and places stay consistent; each shot is generated, reviewed and re-generated until it matches the storyboard; then voices, sound effects, music and the final edit are built by hand. A one-minute 4K sample from the production has already been completed and approved — it set the look of the whole film: frozen metal, red signal lights, and weather that feels like a character.
One honest production note: AI generation has limits, and we work around them openly. When a specific shot cannot be generated the way it was written, the scene is redesigned rather than faked — the story always wins over the tool.

Frequently asked questions
What is COLD SIGNAL about?
COLD SIGNAL is an original AI-generated action, horror and thriller film. At a remote Arctic relay station, a distress call from 1987 starts broadcasting live — and whatever is out in the cold has learned to mimic human voices. The crew has to decide which voices they can trust: the ones in the room, or the ones on the radio.
How long is COLD SIGNAL?
The full film is planned at 20–25 minutes. It will premiere free on the Zentara YouTube channel, with an official trailer first.
Is COLD SIGNAL really made with AI?
Yes — every frame is generated with AI tools, but the film is written, directed, voiced and edited by humans. The script, the shot choices, the pacing and the sound design are human decisions; AI is the camera, the set and the cast.
When will COLD SIGNAL be released?
The film is in production now. The trailer will be announced on the Zentara channel and on this blog first — subscribe so you don't miss the premiere date.
